GOVERNOR DAVIS SIGNS LEGISLATION CREATING VOTERS BILL OF RIGHTS 09/24/2003 SACRAMENTO
Governor Gray Davis has signed legislation creating a Bill of Rights enumerating the rights that voters have under current law.
"Voters have rights, but they are scattered throughout the election code," Governor Davis said. "This bill will list them in one concise, easy to read document."
AB 177 by Assemblymember Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach) requires that ballot pamphlets contain the Voter Bill of Rights and requires that the Secretary of State provide local elections officials with copies of the Bill of Rights for distribution and posting at polling places.
