Governor Schwarzenegger Declares March "Women's History Month"
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
P R O C L A M A T I O N
by the
Governor of the State of California
In 1980, President Jimmy Carter created Women's History Month to recognize and celebrate the courage, vision and leadership
of women. This March, Women's History Month gives Californians the opportunity to remember the women who have made life better
for their families, their communities and the world.
The Women's History Month theme in 2004 is "Women Inspiring Hope and Possibility." We can find inspiration in the women who
have broken social and professional barriers in pursuit of their dreams.
In our nation, the great achievements of women were made amidst a long, arduous struggle for equality and acceptance. Thanks
to an unflagging resolve, today women are an essential, powerful and triumphant part of the American experience.
Women's History Month reminds us that with diligence, determination and the courage to dream, women, and all Americans, can
achieve great things.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim March 2004, as "Women's
History Month."
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have here unto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this the
first day of March 2004.
